Pregnant women are urging University Maternity Hospital Limerick (UMHL) to lift visitor restrictions, which have been in place since covid.

Patients in the maternity hospital are only allowed to nominate one support person, a decision that cannot be reversed. UMHL is the only hospital in the country which still has this restriction in place.

The restrictions are “incredibly difficult" for women who are giving birth, or for pregnant women attending for prenatal appointments, say campaigners.
