Over 3,000 rabbits die following fire in breeding pavilion

A fire in a pavilion used for the fattening up of rabbits caused the deaths of 3,500 rabbits this week. Damages faced by the breeders have been set at around €120,000. The fire began early on Monday morning, in Gândara dos Olivais, in Leiria. Firefighters called to the scene were able to extinguish the flames fairly quickly, but the animals all died of intoxication, say reports .
