Third man condemned to long jail term for fatal attack on young PSP agent
Portugal Resident
A third man is starting a lengthy jail term for his part in the fatal attack on young PSP agent Fábio Guerra outside a Lisbon nightspot in March 2022. Clóvis Abreu, the suspect who went on the run, was sentenced today to 14 years in prison for murder, two attempted murders and two crimes against physical integrity. The sentence was handed down in a legal combination, explained a judicial source – and Abreu was ordered to pay more than €180,000 to Fábio Guerra’s family and €24,000 to São José Hospital, where Fábio Guerra was hospitalised before he so tragically died. Aníbal Pinto, Clóvis Abreu’s lawyer, has told Lusa that his client will appeal the decision. Ricardo Serrano Vieira, the victim’s family’s lawyer however, has said “we are pleased” that Abreu was convicted of murder, albeit, he said, analysis of the verdict must follow.
