In a case of apparent non-communication, it transpires that a major campaign focused on ‘culture’ promoted by Turismo de Portugal will be taking place just as a number of iconic sites will be closed for renovation work. President of the state’s monuments and museums entity, Alexandre Pais, has said his department is “very worried”, as there appears to be “no concerted strategy at the moment with Turismo de Portugal to deal with this issue’, while landmarks that are open (like the Jerónimos monastery and Torre de Belém) are already at ‘saturation point’ when it comes to visitors…
