Gas consumption drops by almost double Brussel’s target

Portugal reduced natural gas consumption by 28.2% between August 2022 and April 2024 compared to the year-on-year average of the previous five years, almost double the 15% target set by the European Commission, Statistics Portugal announced today. According to INE’s, the 28.2% reduction in monthly natural gas consumption in Portugal also far exceeded the 17.9% average for the European Union.
