The hidden disaster of Hurricane Helene.

When Hurricane Helene raged through this area of Florida ten days ago, it pushed a wall of water ahead of it that ploughed the sea floor — and staked to the sea floor here off Cedar Key is a clam-farming industry worth an annual $50m.

“Our industry has never seen any substantial reimbursement from the state or federal government. Our agriculture commissioner and governor need to get together and come up with a true relief programme,” said one farmer
