"Only our body warmth saved us. Luckily we are good friends"

Fay Manners and Michelle Dvorak were stranded on a 10 inch ledge for three days without most of their kit in the Himalayas. They had been stranded at close to 6,000 metres (20,000ft) when their bag of climbing gear, food and other equipment fell into a deep gorge on the Chaukhamba massif in northern India. They managed to send an SOS to their friends on Thursday. Nothing more was heard from them.

This is how they survived and were rescued
