The wife of a Conservative councillor who used social media to inflame racial hatred by calling for hotels with asylum seekers to be burnt down has been jailed for 31 months.

Lucy Connolly, a childminder from Northampton, posted on X on the day of the Southport stabbings in July: “Mass deportation now, set fire to all the f****** hotels full of the bastards for all I care … If that makes me racist, so be it”
