Dame Tracey Emin said her faith in humanity had been restored after councillors rejected plans to “modernise” Margate’s landmark tower.

The artist had spearheaded a campaign to stop the owners of the brutalist 18-storey Arlington House in the increasingly popular Kent seaside town from replacing its original windows with “bulky and unsuitable” replacements
